Weather related catastrophe claims have been a hotbed for fraud and other abuses in the claims and litigation process. Today's fraud schemes include grossly inflated estimates, fabricated invoices, repeat claims for the same damage, claim process manipulation, abuse of the appraisal process, and contractor/public adjuster kickback schemes. This session will explore the common fraud schemes taking place in weather related CAT claims, and provide best practice recommendations to address these abuses in both the claims process and resulting litigation.
