Summer Jenkins is a tenured insurance professional. She leads the specialty division for cannabis at One General Agency (OGA), serving as the Executive Director of Cannabis Insurance Wholesalers (CIW). CIW provides insurance coverage to legal cannabis business owners nationwide.

Jenkins is recognized as a thought leader in the cannabis industry, who has grown her core practice area around underwriting, risk management and coverage form development. She created some of the first insurance programs for cannabis in the United States and has influenced much of the cannabis-related insurance policy contract language used by insurance companies.

Summer has written several published articles on risk management and cannabis insurance. She is the Chairperson Emerita of the National Cannabis Industry Association’s (NCIA) Risk Management & Insurance Committee and is a member of the DISE Committee for the California Cannabis Industry Association (CCIA). She is a faculty member at Oaksterdam University and is the Chairperson of the Cannabis Community of the CLM Alliance (Claims and Litigation Management).

Summer is an advocate of holistic medicine and healing and uses her herbalism skills to make cannabis topical ointments, edibles and tinctures for sick friends and church members. Summer considers herself an “insurance nerd” and enjoys reading and studying policy contracts in her spare time. Her other hobbies include fishing, American muscle cars and working with persons with developmental disabilities. She is also the proud owner of an American Quarter Horse named Pharaoh.
