Calvin has enjoyed a progressive career within the property and casualty insurance industry with The Economy Companies, St Paul Insurance, MetLife Auto and Home Insurance, Farmers Insurance Exchange, and now PEMCO Insurance. With over 30 years of experience, he brings a diverse leadership background across several national areas of claims [operations, strategy and process, advanced analytics, technology, recoveries, vendor management, quality, compliance, training, and integration], along with serving as a market strategist for three western states.
As an industry thought leader, Calvin has shared his ideas at multiple events having recently presented at the Reuters Connected Claims USA conference on the topic of “The nexus between claims and customers through new tech capabilities.” Calvin also served as President and Board Chair of the Rhode Island Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Society Chapter, and in 2007 was recognized by Diversity MBA Magazine as a Top 50 Under 50 Executive & Emerging Leader.
He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance from the University of Iowa in 1988 and earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix (St Louis, MO on campus program) in 2006. He attained his CPCU designation from The American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters in 2006 and holds the Associates in Claims (AIC) and the Associates in Personal Insurance (API) designations.
